During my last year in high school a friend introduced me to yoga and meditation. This was a pivotal life-changing event. I knew then that I wanted to be a healer.
While on the traditional pre-med track as an undergrad, I taught yoga classes in my spare time. It became clear that I wanted to emphasize prevention and lifestyle changes over medication of symptoms. This path led me to study massage therapy at the Swedish Institute. I earned my license and practiced for 17 years. During that time, I worked as a fitness instructor and danced professionally. I’ve always had a love for the body and how it moves in space.
In time, I discovered that many of my patients had health concerns that couldn't be addressed by massage therapy alone, and I wanted to be able to offer more. For me, the next logical step was to study acupuncture.
After an intensive 4 year long program that included 3,000 hours of academic training and externships at leading NYC hospitals, and even more studying to pass my board exams and earn my acupuncture license, I earned my Bachelors and M.S. in acupuncture at PCOM. Which explains why some of my best friends didn’t see me for 5 years!
When it came to creating my own practice I knew exactly what I wanted to do for my patients. A holistic approach to health care has so improved the quality of my own life that my goal as a practitioner is to empower my patients to do the same.
I take a genuine interest in the people who come to me and give generously of my time. I invest in them, and build relationships with my them. Meeting and speaking with new people about how I can help them achieve their health goals is the most exciting thing to me.
